In March, AsiaWorld-Expo was honoured to be chosen to host Hong Kong's 2007 Chief Executive Election. The high-profile event, at which the leader of Hong Kong's government is elected, takes place every five years and requires unprecedented levels of event management expertise, logistics and security support, and media facilities. The general public and the media also
attended the prestigious event.
On the trade side, the twice-yearly China Sourcing Fairs continue to go from strength to strength. Underwear & Swimwear, Fashion Accessories and Electronics & Components ran concurrently in mid April, taking over the entire 70,000 square metres of exhibition space. With a rapid turnaround, the Gifts & Home Products fair ran five days later attracting almost 32,000 buyers. Together the four fairs welcomed 75,566 visitors, including many of the world's top sourcing and retail buyers.
The event organiser, Global Sources, was very pleased with both the quantity and quality of visitor traffic. The exhibitors were also satisfied with the number of top buyers present which generated a lot of serious, large-volume business. The next China Sourcing Fairs at AsiaWorld-Expo will be held on 12-15 October and 20-23 October this year. |
