International MotorXpo Hong Kong (IMXpo) 2024

Building on the unparalleled successes of past years, the International MotorXpo Hong Kong (IMXpo) 2024 promises to be an even more electrifying event.
 
Scheduled to take place at AWE from 5 – 8 December, this year’s event is themed “Mobility – an infinite future”. In keeping with the theme, the event will feature four zones: a New Energy & Future Mobility Pavilion, including Hydrogen Vehicles; the International Auto Show Room, displaying supercars and other vehicles; Hong Kong Autofest, focusing on modifications, car beauty services, classic cars and auctions; and IMX CARnival, offering a range of family-friendly activities.
 
This four-day IMXpo at AWE will once again bring together industry leaders, manufacturers, and automotive enthusiasts from around the globe, offering a unique and immersive experience for all visitors.

Children’s Book Fair and Super Parents & Kids Expo
6 – 8 Dec 2024

The 7th “Children’s Book Fair & Super Parents & Kids Expo” will kick off on 6 December, transforming AWE into a vibrant hub of creativity and learning, where families can explore the latest in children’s literature, interactive educational tools, and engage in activities designed to inspire young minds and strengthen family bonds.
 
This year’s exhibition is not only scaling-up to offer even more parent-child daily necessities, but is also adding new elements, namely “Bookfair”, “Parent-child Market”, and “Department Stores”. Held in collaboration with more than 100 well-known parent-child product brands from around the world, these new elements will showcase products and services that best meet the needs of local families from all backgrounds, offering easy access to exceptional quality at affordable prices.

Second (GBA) Hong Kong Schools Expo
13 – 15 Dec 2024

The second Greater Bay Area (GBA) Hong Kong Schools Expo is set for 13 – 15 December, organised by a coalition of Hong Kong’s educational councils and associations, with support from the Education Bureau. This significant event will highlight the outstanding qualities of Hong Kong’s educational system. Participating institutions, ranging from kindergartens to higher education, will exhibit their high standards and the unique aspects of education in Hong Kong. The exhibition aims to serve as an essential guide for the 220,000 children of Hong Kong residents in mainland China, as well as the nearly 50,000 children of annual Top Talent Pass Scheme holders, offering them detailed insights into the educational opportunities in Hong Kong, and the admissions process.

Hong Kong FinTech Week
28 – 29 October 2024

Organised by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau along with Invest Hong Kong, the 2024 Hong Kong Fintech Week hosted its main forum from 28 – 29 October at AWE. This was complemented by satellite events in Shenzhen and a series of engaging community events throughout the week. This year’s event significantly expanded its scale, featuring more than 800 speakers and over 700 exhibitors, with more than 37,000 attendees.
 
Prominent tech corporations like Xiaomi, Huawei, Tencent, and Ant Group demonstrated their latest innovations, affirming the conference’s position at the forefront of technological advancements. The event also included a diverse range of international speakers from ASEAN and the Middle East. Opening remarks by Paul Chan, Financial Secretary, emphasized Hong Kong's progress as a global fintech hub and the upcoming policy statement on responsible AI application in financial services. Followed this, a series of keynote addresses delivered by various officials and industry leaders, covered critical topics including responsible AI use, virtual assets regulation, cross-border payments, and the future of fintech.

Super Terminal Expo
5 – 7 November 2024

The inaugural Super Terminal Expo made its high-profile debut at AWE in November, showcasing a remarkable convergence of the latest innovations in airport design and operations. Organised by Informa Markets and hosted in partnership with Hong Kong International Airport, the event featured over 100 expert speakers across more than 80 content sessions. In total, it attracted over 2,000 global professionals and facilitated discussions on emerging trends in passenger and cargo terminal development.
 
Spanning three exhibition halls at AWE, this pioneering event—the first of its kind in Asia—focused on five key themes, including the impact of emerging technologies such as biometric recognition and artificial intelligence on passengers, terminal security and facilitation, and advanced air mobility. Notably, the event also included the “Low Altitude Economy Forum”, which held discussions on the hot topic of urban air mobility.
 
During the Super Terminal Expo, Informa Markets announced the inaugural Connect Marketplace Hong Kong 2025 set to take place at AsiaWorld-Expo this coming March. Uniting the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE) community, this premier Asia Pacific event marks the inaugural of Connect Marketplace in Asia, aiming to elevate experiences and shape the future of the MICE industry. Connect Marketplace Hong Kong 2025 will feature hundreds of exhibitors and suppliers, welcoming more than 600 hosted buyers from around the world and attract 8,000 visitors from 14 countries and regions, including Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and the USA.

Cosmopack Asia2024

Cosmopack Asia, the twin show of Cosmoprof, was held at AWE from 12 – 14 November. This important event for the beauty industry brought together leading supply chain companies, including those specialising in ingredients and raw materials, machinery and equipment, packaging, printing and labels, contract manufacturing, and private labels. Offering numerous opportunities for networking, the event proved to be a valuable hub for innovation and collaboration.
 
During the event, Cosmopack unveiled Cosmolab, an AI-driven installation that revolutionises hair care through ‘Skinification’. Visitors were also able to engage with the award-winning HairCoSys ‘Bloomtastic’ platform. By simply uploading hair and scalp photos, users were able to receive personalised recommendations featuring OPAL products.

Hong Kong International Airport‧Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon: Three-Runway System 10km International Race

To celebrate the imminent launch of threerunway operations at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, HKIA has took part in the "Hong Kong International Airport•Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon: Three-Runway System 10km International Race", co-presented by title sponsors Airport Authority Hong Kong and Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and organised by the Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates. The race was held on the airport’s Centre Runway, which gave participants the unique experience of running in the midst of a fully operational airport. Upon checking in at AsiaWorld-Expo and completing the security check, runners were ferried to the racecourse by shuttle buses.
 
This marks the second time a running event has taken place on HKIA’s runway, following the “Standard Chartered ’98 New Airport Marathon” held 26 years ago. Against the backdrop of an operational airport, runners can enjoy the unique experience of planes flying by as they run—a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for nearly 11,000 running enthusiasts and athletes.

A Sports Extravaganza at AWE With HYROX Uniting Athletes in a Test of Strength and Endurance

On 23 November, AWE transformed into a bustling hub of athletic prowess and excitement, hosting a series of high-profile events that collectively drew over 20,000 sports enthusiasts.
 
The morning started with the prestigious Hong Kong Open Fencing Championships in AWE’s Hall 5, where professional fencers crossed swords in a thrilling display of skill. Concurrently, the Hong Kong Fitness and Wellness Expo was taking place across Halls 3, 6, 8, and 10, offering everything from fitness challenges and yoga sessions to the latest in sports gear and lifestyle exhibitions. A highlight of that event was the HYROX fitness competition, which combined running and functional training to challenge participants in an exhilarating test of stamina and strength.
 
On the same day, the 903 AllStar Basketball Jam turned the familiar concert stage of AsiaWorld-Arena into a full basketball court, bringing together celebrities, DJs, and nearly 10,000 cheering fans in a spectacular blend of sport and entertainment.
 
This stunning line-up of diverse sports events—all held on one day, under one roof—not only showcased exceptional athletic skills, but also demonstrated AWE's skilful event management and world-class facilities. These inspirational, high-energy events, all hosted simultaneously, set a new benchmark for sportsmanship and vitality, leaving the many thousands of attendees looking forward to future sporting activities at AWE!

AWE Earns “Restaurant of the Year” at the Inaugural Sustainable Restaurant Award

The dining outlets at AWE were recently honoured with the “Restaurant of the Year” award at the inaugural Sustainable Restaurant Award. The ceremony was held on 1 November 2024 during Eco Expo Asia. This recognition underscores our commitment to integrating corporate social responsibility into our business operations and contributing to environmental protection through reduced carbon emissions.
 
This commitment to sustainability, which extends to our culinary services at NUVA, Arena Kitchen, Spotlight Bar, and our banqueting services, includes sourcing local, organic, and hydroponically grown ingredients in collaboration with the Vegetable Marketing Organization. Additionally, through our partnership with WWF for Sustainable Seafood Week, and our ongoing efforts with Food Angel, we promote responsible consumption by offering sustainable seafood and support our community by donating unused food. HK$500 Million Boost for the Incentive Scheme for Recurrent Exhibitions 2.0

The Hong Kong Government’s recent policy address allocated an additional HK$500 million to launch the Incentive Scheme for Recurrent Exhibitions 2.0, aimed at bolstering the sustainability and growth of the events sector amidst ongoing economic challenges. This substantial financial infusion is specifically designed to support exhibition venues like AWE by subsidising part of the costs associated with hosting recurring exhibitions. The scheme enables organisers to enhance their event quality and scale, attract more international exhibitors and attendees, and increase the frequency of their events. This assistance to event organisers will help maintain Hong Kong’s status as a premier destination and global hub for large-scale international exhibitions, attracting high-profile business travellers from around the planet.

Developing Airport City into World-leading New Landmark with Expanded Blueprint
The Airport City at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is developing into a new, world-leading landmark, the largest in the region, that integrates commercial activities, popular culture, art trading, entertainment and leisure under an expanded development blueprint spearheaded by Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), with the aim of driving further economic development of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
 
First unveiled in 2019, the Airport City blueprint combines the airport’s core functions with related business segments to create strong synergy, fully leveraging the airport's unique geographical location with a view to seizing the opportunities brought by various new infrastructures. New projects include an ecosystem for the art industry, AsiaWorld-Expo Phase 2 development, a marina with ancillary facilities, a fresh food market, and more. These new projects will promote high-end commercial, tourism and leisure activities, and are expected to be completed from 2026 to 2031.
 
AAHK is taking forward the Phase 2 development of AsiaWorld-Expo, which will include Hong Kong’s largest multi-purpose indoor arena with a seating capacity of over 20,000 people, and more convention and exhibition facilities. This will pave way for even more world-class entertainment events and international commercial and trade activities to be hosted in Hong Kong, attracting visitors from the Greater Bay Area and all over the world to experience the unique international cultural vibrancy in Hong Kong.
