Katch presents: IAN CHAN “TEARS" IN MY SIGHT SOLO CONCERT 2024
19 - 25 Jul 2024
Ian Chan, the acclaimed singer-songwriter and member of Hong Kong boy band Mirror, recently held his first solo concerts at AWE for seven consecutive nights, attracting some 70,000 fans.
The shows were presented in a creative layout with a long-tailed runway connecting a sub-stage designed to tie in with the overall concert theme. This was made possible by the unique design of AsiaWorld-Arena, which offers extraordinary flexibility for creating seating areas that give audiences an up-close experience. For Ian Chan’s concerts, the ultra-high ceiling also allowed for a mega digital installation, which created a spectacular ambience and greatly magnified his mesmerising performances.
The excitement even extended beyond the stage, as the expansive adjacent hall was transformed into a vibrant hub of fan activities. |

AWE Inspires University Students to be Future Industry Leaders
AWE has always been committed to advancing Hong Kong’s MICE industry by partnering with the education sector. This commitment includes nurturing the next generation of business leaders by offering students a platform to deepen their understanding of event planning and showcase their strategic thoughts on the market’s future transformation.
In collaboration with students from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), AWE recently arranged sharing sessions, a site tour and a “Business Case Competition” programme for students to unleash their creativity and inspire a new ecosystem using innovative technologies.
In the competition, participants were tasked to develop inventive new solutions to real-world business challenges, focusing on one of three critical areas: integrating culture, utilising technology, and advocating environmental protection. Throughout the experience, AWE encouraged students to foster critical thinking, teamwork, and professional growth, creating inspirational new opportunities for educational engagement with the MICE industry. |

Airport Authority Awards Tender for Hong Kong’s First
Autonomous Mass Transportation System |
|
|
|
|
|
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) announced on 27 June that it has awarded the tender for the development of autonomous vehicles and the associated transportation system for carrying visitors between the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) and SKYCITY at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). It will be the first autonomous mass transportation system in Hong Kong, significantly enhancing the overall experience for cross-border visitors.
The autonomous transportation system will operate on Airportcity Link, a dedicated vehicular bridge integrated with a pedestrian walkway. Built by AAHK, Airportcity Link will connect the Hong Kong Port of HZMB and SKYCITY, a major commercial development on the Airport Island that provides a wide array of dining, shopping and entertainment offerings, all fully integrated with AWE.
Visitors riding on the autonomous vehicles from the Hong Kong Port will reach SKYCITY in just three minutes, or vice versa. The seamless connections enabled by the new system, along with the numerous attractions at SKYCITY, will make AWE an even more compelling and attractive destination, especially for visitors from China’s affluent and highly populated Greater Bay Area. |
