Newly Renovated Venues Welcome Spectacular Signature Shows
Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation 2021
Held annually on 1 January for over two decades, the Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation has long been recognised as Hong Kong’s flagship music award ceremony celebrating the music industry on the first day of the new year. This year’s event was subject to an 85% cap on seating capacity in accordance with social distancing regulations, yet still the Arena at AWE wowed everyone in attendance as a venue without equal. As Hong Kong’s largest indoor seated stadium, it enabled a spectacular experience for the 10,000 fans who would gathered to watch the all-star line-up of leading artists and musicians. Highlights of this one-of-a-kind event included a performance by idol group Mirror and the thrilling announcement of instant-polling results for “Song and Artist of the Year”. The loud cheering of fans all evening was an inspirational reminder that nothing can replace the exhilarating power of a live show!

AWE was delighted that it could welcome this landmark event with a wide range of new facilities such as the retractable seat riser, which allows quick set-up changeover. The event organiser, audience and media all praised these new facilities, including the enhanced acoustic panels and signages, renovated washrooms, VIP lounge, and the wide range of sanitising measures.

The renovated backstage was another popular spot, with artists’ and VIPs’ backstage selfies going viral on social media. The upgraded rest and shower facilities offer a comfortable and extremely private setting for performers, and a giant wall features autographs from the many international superstars who have previously performed at the Arena, adding yet another layer of magic to the unique AWE experience.
How SKYCITY Takes Hong Kong to a New Level Forum & Live Streaming Session

SKYCITY will open in phases between 2022 and 2027, giving a major new boost of energy to the local economy. An integral part of SKYCITY, 11 SKIES is the largest retail, dining, entertainment and commercial landmark in Hong Kong, spanning over a total gross floor area of 3.8 million square feet. The result of a HK$20 billion investment, this landmark destination will offer an eclectic choice of 800 retail shops, over 120 dining concepts, and numerous “first-in-Hong Kong” entertainment choices.

To explain how 11 SKIES and the whole SKYCITY development will take Hong Kong to a new level, a high-profile forum was organised at AWE on 26 May 2022. The event brought together close to 20 industry leaders in finance, healthcare, tourism and innovative technology, all of whom shared their insights on the new opportunities and enormous potential for tourism and other commercial activities that SKYCITY and its integral part 11 SKIES will unlock for Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

Together with other leading industry practitioners, Irene Chan, CEO of AWE, participated in the panel “Rethinking Tourism in Hong Kong: 2023 and Beyond” where she predicted that “SKYCITY together with the new cross-border infrastructure will enable better integration with the Greater Bay Area, making AWE even more attractive in welcoming major international events.”

An integral part of SKYCITY, AWE is aimed to develop into Asia’s premier entertainment landmark and a platform for global businesses to promote their products and services to the Mainland China market. Indeed, strong new synergy is expected between AWE, 11 SKIES and the other components of SKYCITY, such as its leisure and hotel developments.

The forum successfully concluded with the presence of hundreds of business leaders on-site and over 10,000 business figures joining online from across the Greater Bay Area. For more information about the forum and to watch videos from the event, please click here
