	Celebrating Another Award-winning Year Best Exhibition & Convention Centre AWE was recently voted “Best Convention and Exhibition Centre in Asia-Pacific” by readers of CEI magazine, a prestigious, industry-leading MICE publication. This is the 7th consecutive year that AWE has been recognised as one of the APAC region’s best venues. The CEI Readers’ Choice Awards are held to celebrate industry excellence by showcasing the inspirational work of the region’s leading venues, as well as the organisations that support MICE development. Best International Performance Venue Home to over 300 mega events annually and a magnet for iconic performances—including concerts by Britney Spears and Madonna, Asia’s only five-star equestrian event, and the inaugural Asian Fencing Championships—AWE was crowned “Best International Performance Venue” by AEG Promotion Ltd at the AEG Music Channel Award Presentation Ceremony. This important new award is yet further confirmation of AWE’s leading status in bringing international entertainment and cultural performances to Hong Kong. HKMA Sustainability Award & CarbonCare Label In recognition of organisations that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability in their operations while also achieving good organisational performance, Hong Kong Management Association recently launched the Hong Kong Sustainability Awards. AWE received the honour of a “Certificate of Excellence” given in recognition of its commitment to social equity, and its economic and environmental practices. AWE was also accredited with the CarbonCare® Label certified by CarbonCare InnoLab and Carbon Care Asia in recognition of its achievements in reducing its carbon footprint.

	Longines Hong Kong Masters 8-11 February 2018 Asia’s only international five-star show jumping competition, the Longines Masters is soon returning to AWE for its sixth edition. This four-day equestrian event will see the world’s top elite riders compete for a US$1 million prize, while patrons enjoy pop-up exhibitions showcasing luxury goods, fashion, equestrianism, cuisine, wine and champagne, together with workshops for kids, live music performances and after-show parties. Under the same roof, guests at the prestigious Master Club will be treated to fine-dining prepared by AWE’s award-winning chefs. New in 2018, AWE is also welcoming the inaugural edition of Asia Horse Week, which will be held alongside the Longines Masters of Hong Kong. Designed to be an annual meeting point for the global equestrian industry, Asia Horse Week is a unique ‘East meets West’ forum for sharing experiences and exchanging knowledge. In addition to enjoying the wide variety of happenings taking place throughout the event period, from competitions and exhibitions to entertainment, delegates are invited to an industry conference on 8 February, which is open exclusively to patrons of Asia Horse Week and members of the media.

	The 1st Belt and Road International Food Expo 27-29 June 2018 Born from China’s high-profile Belt and Road Initiative, which will benefit over 63% of the world’s population in over 70 countries, including China, ASEAN, the Middle East, and Central and Eastern Europe, AWE is pleased to welcome the inaugural “Belt and Road International Food Expo” in June 2018. Supported by the Belt & Road Global Alliance and Invest HK, this brand new trade show is the first platform of its kind to provide one-stop food trade and investment co-operation tailored to emerging countries. The event’s organising members consist of Ambassadors and Consul-Generals of a wide range of countries, including Indonesia, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Malaysia, Lithuania and Slovakia, which will be reflected in the rich variety of country pavilions at the Expo.

	The Power of New Retail Conference by TaoBao University 16 December 2017 Created by Alibaba Group, TaoBao University chose AWE for its first seminar in Hong Kong, sharing valuable tips to help enterprises grasp new e-commerce opportunities by using big data and emerging technologies. New retail concepts are transforming the global supply chain in powerful new ways. The annual Single’s Day, held every year on 11 November, is powerful proof of this: in 2017, Tmall.com (formerly known as Taobao Mall, a B2C online retail platform for the Chinese community) reported a record-breaking RMB168 million of transactions in just one day. Indeed, Single’s Day is rapidly establishing itself as the largest e-commerce event in China, with Tmall’s gross merchandise volume growing 39% year on year, involving 225 countries worldwide. Founded on this exceptional success, TaoBao University provides a platform where the top online retailers and managers at Alibaba.com share their insights and strategies. The event at AWE attracted some 2,000 participants, including entrepreneurs from start-ups and well-established enterprises, academics, students, and leaders of retail associations. AWE was chosen for this landmark event based on its solid track record of hosting large-scale conferences, and its proven ability to provide seamless ICT support for live-streaming.

	Asian Cadet Circuit cum Cross-strait 4 Regions Age Group Fencing Championships 23-25 December 2017 Following the successful debut of the Asian Fencing Championships in May 2017, the event organiser, the Asian Fencing Association, scheduled another debut regional competition at AWE. Bringing together over 800 participants, including spectators and talented up-and-coming fencers from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Taipei and Hong Kong, this three-day event offered a unique sporting experience for Christmas, and the opportunity to cheer on athletes in an exciting series of competitions. AWE was proud to be the supporting partner of this debut event, which showcased the champion spirit of Hong Kong’s young athletes and helped inspire their passion for elite sportsmanship.


	Oriental Daily Online News Queen’s College 155th Anniversary Gala Dinner 25 November 2017 The Oriental Daily’s highly popular mobile news portal, on.cc, recently covered the Queen’s College 155th Anniversary Gala Dinner, which was held at AWE on 25 November 2017. Renowned for its strong alumni network, the college’s anniversary event was attended by over 1,500 students, teachers and alumni. Voice leaders and figureheads from various fields were in attendance, and enjoyed a spectacular night featuring a sumptuous feast. What made the event truly unique was the starry line-up of hosts, namely Julian Law Wing-chung, former political assistant to John Tsang during his capacity as Financial Secretary, Clement Lee Hing-nin, Chief Magistrate, Dr. Cheng Chi-man, Hong Kong Medical Association Council Member, and Chan Yiu-wah, former Assistant Director of RTHK, plus renowned guests including Wong Yan-lung, former Secretary for Justice, Dr. York Chow Yat-Ngok, former Secretary for Food and Health, Norman Chan T.L., Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Professor Joseph Sung J.Y., former Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Eric Cheung Tat Ming, University of Hong Kong Principal Law Lecturer, and many more. 	Sharing the Magic of Christmas 16 December 2017 Christmas is always a magical time of year! Here at AWE, we welcomed the festive season with Hong Kong’s first Asian Cadet Circuit cum Cross-strait 4 Regions Age Group Fencing Championships. This unique event was a great opportunity to introduce local youngsters to the sport of fencing, and perhaps even inspire their sporting ambitions for the year ahead. To keep the festive spirit in full flow, we warmly invited all visitors to AWE to write down their wishes and hang them on our dazzling Christmas tree. As part of its year-round commitment to supporting the local community, AWE also sponsored the Christmas party of the Neuro–Kids Club, a Tuen Mun Hospital patient support group with 90 child and adolescent patients suffering from neurological illness such as brain tumours, epilepsy, and neurological disabilities. These patients and their families were invited to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at AWE’s IKON Seaview Restaurant. In addition to this festive feast, the kids in attendance loved the views of Lantau Island, especially watching planes land at the airport, and revelled in the experience of taking the Airport Express to AWE.
