THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA kicks off a programme of spectacular, world-class entertainment
Acclaimed as the world’s most popular musical, The Phantom of the Opera is making a long-awaited return to Hong Kong, where it will be staged in a specially-constructed 4,000-seat grand theatre inside AsiaWorld-Expo, Arena. With a world-class venue to match the scale of this epic story, Hong Kong audiences can enjoy the full magnificence of the music and performances in a theatrical spectacle that rivals the best of London’s West End and New York’s Broadway.

In addition to a stellar international cast and full live orchestra, the show features jaw-dropping sets, breath-taking special effects and fantastic costumes. This multi-award-winning musical is set to take the city by storm!

To ignite the public’s passion for this world-famous musical, some of the most iconic and luxurious costumes seen in The Phantom of the Opera are now on display at Harbour City shopping mall until the end of October. China Sourcing Fairs
11-14, 18-21, 19-22, 27 -30 October 2014

Regarded as one of the most highly-anticipated events in the sourcing calendar of international buyers, China Sourcing Fair kicked off its electronics and components, and security products shows at AsiaWorld-Expo on 11 October 2014. The 2014 fall edition raises the bar for quality sourcing even higher by providing a selection of the latest consumer electronics and more than 3,700 booths hosted by suppliers from Greater China, Korea and nine other countries – most of whom are private manufacturers and 90 percent of them are exhibiting exclusively at China Sourcing Fair.

In addition to the electronics series, other industry-specific trade shows, covering Mobile Electronics, Gifts & Premium, Home Products, Fashion Accessories, Garments & Textiles, Underwear and Swimwear, and India Sourcing Fair - Garments & Accessories, will be featured in the following weeks all under one roof.
Eco Expo Asia - International Trade Fair on Environmental Protection
29 October - 1 November 2014

Renowned as the region’s most international trade exhibition for green business, Eco Expo Asia is bringing together some of the world’s foremost experts in green technology for its ninth edition. In conjunction with the Japanese Pavilion’s repeated participation, a Korean Pavilion and Netherlands Pavilion will make their debut appearance at the 2014 show. In addition to these international pavilions, exhibitors from Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Mainland China, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan have also confirmed their participation at the 2014 show. To help promote green living, the last event day (1 November) will also be open to the public, giving everyone the opportunity to learn more about the latest green-tech solutions.

HKTDC Hong Kong International Building and Hardware Fair | 29 October - 1 November 2014

Widely regarded as the region’s premier building and construction trade platform, this important event will return to AsiaWorld-Expo in October for its ninth edition, showcasing a broad diversity of quality building and construction equipment, tools, products and services. The fair welcomes close to 180 exhibitors. Among them, the exhibitors from Portugal and Turkey participate in the fair for the first time.

New in 2014 is the topic of Building Performance and Building Information Modelling (BIM), offering a unique opportunity for companies to present BIM objects, BIM software and BIM consultancy services. Another highlight of this year’s event is Green Building Materials, a zone showcasing products and services utilising ‘green’ materials and technologies.

The 2014 edition will be a four-day event, which will not only provide more opportunities for exhibitors and buyers, but also allow the final day of the fair (1 November) to open its doors to the public. This will give exhibitors a valuable opportunity to assess end-users’ reactions to their products and gain insights on the consumer market.
GASEX 2014 Hong Kong | 18-20 November 2014

GASEX 2014 is the 13th Gas Information Exchange to be held in the Western Pacific Area, and the first time that Hong Kong has been chosen as the venue. Held every two years, this high-level conference offers a platform for the exchange of information and technology via a forum and exhibition. Topics of discussion range from gas supply to technology, innovation application to asset management, and smart applications to sustainability.

Drawing on AsiaWorld-Expo’s superb flexibility, the three-day programme will be conducted under one roof. The opening ceremony, keynote session, conference banquet and final gala dinner will all be held in the grand convention and hospitality hall – AsiaWorld-Summit, throughout the programme period, delegates can also attend the adjacent exhibition at anytime.

Thanks to the wealth of attractions on Lantau that are within easy reach of AsiaWorld-Expo, the event programme includes a technical visit to a local theme park, which will offer insights on the resort’s innovative energy plant. A programme for accompanying persons will visit Lantau’s most famous attractions, including the Big Buddha, Ngong Ping 360 cable car, and Tai O fishing village.

2014 Nu Skin Greater China Regional Convention

More than 30,000 delegates from across the Asia-Pacific region were in attendance to celebrate the brand’s 30th anniversary. This record-breaking three-day event included award ceremonies, presentations and performances on a mammoth scale. Drawing on the venue’s clever column-free design, the event’s registration, product exposition, meal arrangements, and dedicated zone for Guinness World Record activities were all arranged under the same roof, making this landmark full-house event spanning almost 70,000 square metres.

AsiaWorld-Expo is the perfect choice for this bi-annual event, offering a scalable and flexible venue that can grow with Nu Skin in the long-term.

Nature Fun x Happy Farm 2014 
3-6 July 2014

As in previous years, the Nature Fun x Happy Farm 2014 was a huge hit with families, who loved its inspirational programme and child-friendly entertainment.

To show its gratitude to the local community for its great support, AsiaWorld-Expo joined hands with organiser Kodomo Communications Limited to coordinate with Tung Chung Safe and Healthy City and H.K.S.K.H. Tung Chung Integrated Services to invite 100 families in Tung Chung to experience the event on the opening day for free. Kids and their hard-working parents enjoyed a fun day out and loved the close encounters with real animals, including goats, horses, rabbits and hamsters. To keep the fun in full flow, there were also jellyfish and Nemo fish pavilions, planting- and science-related educational workshops, and games!

Super Inflatable Game Carnival 2014 
1-3, 8-10 August 2014

Featuring a massive 72-metre-long bouncy castle in the shape of the Great Wall (with a total volume equivalent to 30 double-deck buses!) as well as many other inflatable games starring well-known cartoon characters, this fun-filled carnival attracted huge numbers to AsiaWorld-Expo and was a major highlight of the summer for many families.

To create an unparalleled visitor experience, AsiaWorld-Expo offered a DIY dessert workshop for kids, enabling them to make tasty desserts in the shape of adorable flowers. This fascinating workshop was available at a special price upon patronage of the event’s F&B services. There were also plentiful photo opportunities with the lovely mega-size photo frame, a free lucky draw, and lots of balloon giveaways! The buffet offerings were specially designed for families and received a great response, again showcasing the exceptional talents of AsiaWorld-Expo’s experienced and creative chefs.

This leading B2B trade show cum conference brought together some of the brightest speakers in the industry, as well as visionary exhibitions from the organisations that are helping to push forward the 3D printing revolution.

In addition to hosting exhibits by leaders in 3D printing technologies, including Stratasys, Artec Group and others, the event featured a wide array of seminars covering topics such as Architecture, Art, Engineering, Fashion Design, Manufacturing, Software Development and more.

Asia’s leading trade show for the international fresh fruit and vegetable business, this large-scale event attracted more than 8,100 top decision-makers from 64 countries, and 478 exhibitors from 38 countries. In advance of the opening of the 2014 edition, the event had already smashed its previous record for booked stand space, which was up by 25% on the previous year.

ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA was accompanied by the Asiafruit Congress, which took place on the day before the trade show and attracted a select group of more than 400 of the industry’s leading professionals from almost 40 countries worldwide.

Vitafoods Asia 2014 
3-4 September 2014

The fourth edition of Vitafoods Asia 2014 welcomed over 170 exhibitors and some 2,500 visitors from all over the world. One of the highlights was the Finished Products Pavilion, where an expanded Tasting Bar allowed visitors to see, touch and taste the latest functional food and drinks. The New Products Zone, one of the event’s most popular features, also showcased an inspirational selection of the latest products launched to market.

Other attractions included the Exhibitor Presentation Theatre, presenting the latest findings, case studies and product innovations by leading industry professionals from around the world. For the first time, the Vitafoods Asia Conference also took place alongside the exhibition.
Asia's Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair - September  |  15-18 September 2014

Recognised as the leading event in Asia’s fashion jewellery and accessories industry, the fair featured pavilions from Mainland China, India, Korea, the Philippines and Taiwan. One of the event highlights was a bigger Stainless Steel Jewellery Pavilion, with over 40 exhibitors. In total, more than 410 local and overseas exhibitors participated in the event, and over 6,600 visitors from 116 countries and regions were in attendance.

Since the implementation of the “One Fair, Two Venues” concept, this world-leading fine jewellery event has been living up to its status as the largest B2B event of its kind in the world.

Under the two venues’ product sectorisation arrangement, AsiaWorld-Expo housed all kinds of jewellery raw materials, including diamonds, gemstones, pearls, and packaging, tools and equipment, with over 1,600 exhibitors showcasing a wide range of loose gems under one roof.

The fair concluded on a high note with record numbers of exhibitors and buyers across the two venues. Over 3,690 exhibitors from 49 countries and regions were in attendance, and a total of over 59,000 buyers from around the world, an approximate 12% growth over the previous year.

Raising funds for neuromuscular disease 

The ice bucket challenge has taken the world by storm, with many high-profile celebrities and business leaders helping to raise funds for neuromuscular disease by tipping buckets of icy water over their heads!

CEO of AsiaWorld-Expo, Allen Ha, was nominated for the challenge by Andrew Kam, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland. To send a clear message about AsiaWorld-Expo’s commitment to helping the needy, Mr Ha undertook the challenge along with all departmental bosses on 2 September 2014, attracting even more attention—and valuable funds—for the Hong Kong Neuromuscular Disease Association.

After the challenge, a very wet Mr Ha sustained the charitable momentum by nominating two friends he made during his voluntary service, namely Laurence Li Lu-jen, a lawyer and convener of the 30s Group, and Johnny Kwan, National President of the Junior Chamber International Hong Kong.
